Hey guys!

I’ve fallen behind on posting LJ Projects, so I thought I’d share a few of the rings I had the opportunity to work on recently. Hope y’all are having a great 2014 so far!

  • Hawaiian Koa ring set with Paua Shell Inlay – 12mm tapered to 6mm
  • Classic Goncalo Alves – 6mm
  • Ebony with offset German silver – 8mm
  • Grey Maple with Shimmer Koa, copper and German silver inlays – 6mm
  • Classic Golden Koa – 6mm
  • Hawaiian Koa Lined With Bog Cypress with centered Paua Shell Inlay – 10mm

Nice work. I gave it a shot one time to make something like this. It sure does take real talent to do it!

These rings are gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to make my wife a birthstone ring and these have given my the inspiration to start experimenting! I’ve been reading your posts and comments, thank you for all the info on wooden rings! I was wondering where you get your stones for the inlays, I’ve been searching and can’t find a good source for crushed gems. Any tips will be much appreciated! Happy woodworking!

We get many of our raw material for crushed inlay from a few select sellers on Etsy.
(Turquoise, malachite, Paua shell, pearl, etc.)

Have a look around Etsy.com. Let me know if you can’t find what you’re after and I can put you in touch with a couple of sellers directly.
