This is made of Cedar. I built this several years ago from plans I purchased from Norm on the New Yankee Workshop. Although Norm built his by himself and within a half an hour, this took me a little while longer. I also had to enlist the help from my daughters and wife to help assemble. The Arch is 5 ft in diameter and each end is three inches thick, so handling it by myself was an impossibility. I wonder how Norm built his on his own, but I guess they did a lot of work with mirrors and commercials. :-)
It was a fun project and stretched my early capabilities..

Nice looking garden arbor. The project was probably more meaningful with the help of your family. They probably have a sense of pride knowing they helped. It certainly is a great addition to your yard. Thanks for sharing.

Joe,
I often wonder how long really takes to build his projects. Norm is a wild man. You project came out really well. Good construction techniques. Looks great.

Note:
Although Norm is probably a very skilled woodworker, he is also the talking head representative of a large business. He has a crew, people, resources and an organization beyond the lens. His plans and videos are great but there is much more to Norm, Inc. than what you see.

I really, really like this design. You’ve done a terrific job! I need to attempt to build one of these for my wife this winter. I know just where she’ll want it.
Great Job!!
