This was a “demo” project that I did for a friend who makes custom watch bands. He made six of them for a customer in LA who is apparently a hip hop artist.

He wanted to present them in a nice box so I made this one. It’s made of mahogany, birdseye and flame maple.

Hope you guys like it.

That’s one hell of a watch box, goes well with your friends watch bands.

Very fancy, I am curious as to what stops the lid in the open position. I am making a couple of boxes with hinged lids and would like a slick way to stop the lid without using a chain or something like that.

Thanks guys.

49er, the lid opens all the way. This box gave me some good lessons and I will be adding stops of some sort on future builds. I really like the thing that has a bar which slips inside the side wall (not sure what it’s called). I love woodworking because the skills grow every time.

Very nice box, Joe! That is an elegant design and the contrasting wood works well together. I appreciate your signature line.

Very cool Jofa. Really nice choice of wood. It works well with the leather bands. Great job

Beautiful work, and those are some serious top-notch photos. I’d expect that kind of quality in a magazine ad.

Like the style and wood choices. And maybe a road into the hip hop world!
