A promise to Jim

Yes, I am doing wood projects! Not anything really creative, just functional for the moment.

Refurbished this Sofa for my re entry into private practice. More time than money! The sofa had some problems. When I took it apart I found the webbing had deteriorated. It would be funny only in a sitcom? My friendly Fleet Farm/Ace Hardware provided the brass grommets and the webbing (used for strapping and towing).

It works! Assembled it last night at the office. Sat on it. I think it will work! I have some found pieces. A little Art Deco Desk and a chair that need some work. They are next!

This is not what I would have posted as a first furniture piece, but A1Jim asked me to post it when I got it together.

I rubbed down the finish with four ought steel wool. Then put a matching coat of Oil based Walnut stain on it. Jim suggested a poly urethane finish. Then a coat of Johnsons paste wax.

Beautiful is always nice. But sometimes functional is more important. It does look good to me.

Thanks,

Didn’t get too crazy as my wife said “They’re going to sit on it not lift the cushions.” LOL!

Thanks Benji,

Me too! As I noted earlier I’ve got two more office pieces to refurbish and a business sign to screw up!

The ash is waiting for me to sit on it. LOL!

Looks nice and comfy. Great to see you posting.
I bet that piece of ash is really dying to have some as$ on it…
You should share those two refurbished and the business sign as well.

Johnny,

Thanks for your support! It’s Monday AM here. Rules on posting projects is that it’s got to be made from wood or blog it. Can’t tell if the the sign is wood as it has two coats of latex primer on it! Might have to put it in a blog? LOL!

I will be posting about my newer shop toys (tools) :-)
