My first born turned 7 a couple of weeks ago, and to celebrate that big year, I built him a nice beginners tool box. It’s constructed of Cabinet grade Maple plywood for the carcass, Sapele for the handle and top edges of the box, and White Oak for the pegs that secure the handle in place. Pretty simple construction all around. I used 1 1/2” copper rim shank nails to help hold everything tight. Turned out pretty nice I think. The look on his face when he saw it was priceless!

I am sure that your son will have a lot of fun playing with his toolbox with his dad.

I look forward to enjoying some woodworking with him as well. He’s been making his own projects for quite while now, simple things like boats. He actually built himself a little desk for his room from found wood. The legs are made of driftwood he collected at the beach. He also got a new bit brace, stanley hammer, tri square, and block plane to add too his tool collection.

Brian,
That is so awesome! I’ve often reflect on some of the quality time me and my father spent together. I think a father and a son is a great thing. I wish I had a son!!!!!!
