I made this for my 21 month old great niece, she bangs on it but mostly likes to sit on it. Its made from old oak pallets and walnut. The finish is two coats of shellac and two coats of spray on semi gloss ploy. Thanks for looking.

Looks great. I’ve got some paduak that I’ve been meaning to try this with.

Nice job! They make great music if you know how to play them, and even when kids just bang on them;) I have made a few out of oak also but the best one was Paduak. Something about Paduak really gives it a great sound. There are many different designs also. Making wood instruments is fun. Again, nice job!!

Woodworker it is nice to hear one being played, I like to bang on it myself sometimes. And yes Paduak would be great, and maybe Redheart. And thanks for the kind words.

Quvia it is simple box construction, the next one I might try dovetail joints. The box is 12”long 8”wide 5”tall and the wood is 1/2”thick. Youtube has a lot of info for these. And thanks to everyone for the kind words.
