A Snowman Seems Appropriate Right About Now

A lady wanted to order a very unusual but yet special gift for her Aunt. With this said, after much conversation, she mentioned that her Aunt collects snowmen. BAM! So I told her we could make her one that Im sure, she does not have another one like it. So she placed a order. Fast forward a bit, a trip to the barn, cut a end off a log I have had stored up there for a few years to dry out to make log furniture, and we have the start of a snowman. A few minutes on the lathe, and the snowman and his hat made from the same log are done. We sprayed a few coats of primer on them, then sprayed white and black respectively. After that, it was time to let my wife work her magic. Its so nice when your wife just happens to be a artist! So she painted the face and buttons on it, and I epoxy the wooden hat on. The pics dont do the face paint any justice at all. It is VERY detailed and looks awesome. After it was good and dry, we put a couple coats of lacquer on it and then boxed it up and shipped it. The lady that ordered it was totally amazed and absolutely loves it as does her Aunt. This one turned out alright on my part, and awesome on my wife’s part.

You both did an excellent job. I thought of doing something like this last month cause it’s been too cold to go outside and build a snowman. Figured a big turned one in the yard would look cool. Glad you had the opportunity to do one. Nice work.

That is nice – a “One of a Kind” Snowman. I bet that there isn’t another one exactly like it anywhere.

Looks great man. Always a plus when you can do something together!

The kids are having fun in the snow but I hate having to shovel and blow it almost daily .
