The mother of our neighbor requested these burial urns after seeing the pictures of the urn I had made for my Mom. (See my prior project posting) The idea of putting decorative splines in place to support the mitered corners is nothing new but this is the first time I have ever done it. Built from mahogany—both boxes came from the same board. The top is a captured panel and the bottom is a recessed panel that will eventually be glued in place. The accents are walnut. The wood is sanded to 220 and finished with BLO. The crucifix is a separate piece. The wood is from the same board and finished with Watco Dark Walnut oil.
