I’ve made a smaller version of this, but this one was made with recycled material, shipping dunnage.
I have access to quite a bit of 3 X 6 X 120” rough cut shipping dunnage, I made this tower 7’ tall
the base is 30”. Anything larger I could not get it out of my basement shop. Photo 2 shows the
timbers. I finished the project with Sikkens Cetol SRD.

More photo’s, back side of one of John’s Extreme birdhouses in photo.

The tower was made from one 3 X 6 X120” shipping dunnage timber.
At my work warehouse we probably dispose a dumpster a month of
this wood. I look for a few good pieces. I don’ have enough space
or a vehicle to haul it away and keep it all. I have no idea what it is
but it originates from Asia and seem a little harder than the pine that
we get here as 2 X

Good looking project! The cabinet you made for your jointer caught my eye. That looks like a good idea. Much better than the little tinny one that mine sits on.

Jointer was a garage sale find, w/o a motor. It’s very old. I’ll take some photo’s with
the doors open. The center door encloses the chip basket. Storage on the ends.
It needs a better switch. I put that one on years ago and havn’t changed it.
I made the cabinet in a weekend, It’s still unfinished.
