This chair is made completely out of cedar. I designed the chairs arms and back pieces on tag board and cut them out. Then I traced the pieces on cedar I had plained down to size and had ready for my chair. I used the band saw to cut the pieces out. To make the pieces exactly the same I nailed them together using tiny finishing nails and sanded them accordingly so they would match up. I did the same with the back pieces. The two outside pieces are identical, as well as the two inside.

This chair is actually pretty comfortable. The chair’s I have sat in before havnt been the greatest or that comfy. But I thing the angle is perfect on this chair. Which makes the comfortability of it awesome. After sanding it down nice and smooth I cut and installed plugs made of cedar to put in over the screws. Then I sanded those down flat and was finished with my chair. The last thing I did was put a few coats of polyurethane for the finish on my chair. It brings out the awesome colors of the cedar and looks great.

I like it a lot! Normally, to get pieces the same shape when cutting them out on the band or scroll saw, I use double sided tape. I like the idea of the finish nails as a more stable option, and the knottiness of the cedar hides the nail holes well! Great idea!

Isaiah, would you mind sharing the dimensions and angels with a newbie? I’d love to add a pair of these for my wife’s garden area?

Looks great and comfy. Like the design on the back and the look of your well finished cedar. Great job!
