I made this drill press table in about 6 hours. It features an adjustable locking fence, removable sacrificial plate, 4 drawers and a quick access shelf. You can check out the quick build video here:

I think your work-around for that round table was really smart.
Plus, those drawers are handy for machine tool storage.

Great build! I really have been needing to make one of these for about a year now. I think I may use a variation of your design but with a replaceable center piece and premade aluminum T track for the fence and hold downs.

You also might want to think about adding a 3rd board to the front of your fence to allow you to add t track there as well which will give you a few more clamping options and the ability to add a flip stop later.

Really great design though. Keep them coming.
