I was asked to make a shadowbox for a shipmate that was retiring. He is a huge Saints fan and wanted something different, so how else to honor his career then to make him a Fleur-De-Lis Shadowbox. Fun project and his expression was priceless when he received it at his retirement.

How cool … That’s thinking out side of the box, no straight lines at all!.

Saints fan here.. how did you make the sides? Surely you didn’t scroll through 4”+ wood. Give me some details, I want one!

James, I use 1 X 4 on all my boxes. I just make A LOT of angle cuts to put them together. The backing is what supports the design, as it is glued and nailed in, and the front screws into the side pieces (70 screws in this design).

It is a lot of work, but it beats shopping with the wife!
