Inspired by Kludge and his very informative post and video. we decided to do some of these to offering them to one of our clients. we did them out of scraps from different woods, rosewood and the other local ones. I tried to glue them with hot silicone but that dd not hold very well. so i went with epoxy, which i had to clamp with some very high tech clamping devices as you can see in the photos.

the narrow ones were made in the scroll saw. the wide ones (heart and leaf) i cut the pieces a little thick (3/4 in i think) and then with the sander to make it thinner as possible.

some have poly finish, others lineseed oil, as we have clients that like shiny things and other prefer matte finish.
the heart and the leaf are inlay and for ribbon i got the a ribbon box pattern from Steve Good, i just made it smaller as it was too big for a hair clip.

thanks

Nayo.

Very nice. Where did you purchase the metal part and did you bend the wood?

Those were given to me by my sister, but in the label it says Darice Craft, and looking around i found them here: http://www.darice.com/store/search?s=barrettes&p=1&ps=40&o=0
the wood is not bent, i just glue the three pieces together then cut from one side the moon shape parts,
i got like 6~ 8 pieces from a 3 in piece.
you can see that here: http://imgur.com/a/aCpNU#0

the piece is 1.25×2.25×5 in

hope that helps

I really like em all. I really like your clamping system. That’s genius.

Attractive barrettes! Cool design and great finish. Like most the leaf and the ribbon. Great job!
