This is an end table I recently made for a friend. I’m still an infant in the world of woodworking, but I had a lot of fun trying out a few new techniques on this piece. The wood is butternut. It has double tapered legs and a floating top. While the craftsmanship isn’t perfect I am excited about the finish. I used WD Lockwood’s Golden oak dye powder mixed with turp lt and tung. I then applied three coats of orange shellac (one wash coat to set the dye and then two coats at a one lb cut). I finished it off with a few coats of a satin poly topcoat from General Finishes.
