I make quite a few of these divided carriers, as they sell very well, but this one came out so nice I thought I would share. I have been doing some wood-burning on some of my work, and am enjoying the process very much.

This piece is 12” long by 8” wide by 5” high. It is made of Cherry and Quilted Maple. I added a little color to the wood-burning using acrylics with several coats of urethane. The wood-burning is on both sides of the divider.

Nice work.. The design on the divider adds a special touch. The designs on the tines are they fasteners?

Jim, this seems to combine the Shaker and Scandinavian traditions. I too like the leaf that sneaks up the handle. I wish you would amend your post to include a few more pictures so we could get a better feel of how the divider, bottom, and sides of the box work together. I see why these sell well.

Just by way of sharing ideas, have you considered layering the handle at the carry point. Here is an example of that. (sorry the pictures are not better…Early days.) This is the same general concept applied in a different way.

How is the center attached to the sides?

Very nice work here. Keep boxing and keep posting.

I can see why you might be proud of this one. Excellent job on burning and coloring. I have had absolutely no luck with decorative burning. Really nice piece!

Jim, you should share all of them. This so nice!

The wood combo is great.

Very well done.

Hi Big Al in IN,
I added a pic showing one end of the carrier. I hope you can see the three pegs that hold the divider in. Their short pieces of 1/8’ dowel. I also apply a very small bead of glue to the edges of the divider, and carefully slide the piece into place.

You are right about the Shaker influence. I also make this divided carrier in the Shaker style, but like to shake things up a little by giving it Nordic flair. I’m glad you liked it. I very much like your divided tool carrier. I will add another project where I did some different types of wood for the divider.

This is gorgeous! What are the braided or weaved pieces? So did you make this like a shaker box? Boil the wood etc?
