The BAN HAMMER for Reddit, Inc.

A fine gentleman employed at Reddit Inc. saw a past project of mine (a “Thor”-inspired hammer) that I had posted to and took a liking to it, and asked if I could do something similar for them. Oh yes, and they wanted me to make two of them, one for each office. Don’t ask me to explain why wanted “what gives, admin?” carved. Means something to them, I guess.

Click here for the whole image gallery, story, and video.

I spend a bit too much time on Reddit as it is, but at least I have something fun to show for it now. This is easily the most ludicrous, and most fun project I’ve done to date. I kind of wish I’d made a third one so I could’ve kept one for myself.

EDIT – Check the comments further down, in case this wasn’t ludicrous enough already!

Coolest hammers ever! The gallery and video are great too!

Pretty cool project. I enjoyed the write up and the detailed video, provided great insight into the construction process. The letter carving came out really nice too. Great hammers.

You have to make another for yourself! These came out awesome. Did you vacuum/pressure impregnate the maple to dye it, or simply wipe some on?

“What gives, admin?” is usually the first thing somebody who has been banned from a forum asks…

Haha, love it that they wanted a real ban hammer. Too bad they didn’t ask for solid hardwood that would have weighed 100 lbs. This way is probably better. Nice job, I bet the client was pleased.
