Drill Press Drawer Set

Project by odie posted 434 days ago 1125 views 13 times favorited 25 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I used to have a bench top drill press sitting on top of a set of drawers I built. I replaced the drill press with a floor model. Oh, what to do to replace the storage space I lost. Easy, this baby is high enough to roll over the drill press platform. If I have to lower the drill press table, the chest of drawers just rolls out from under for that task. It’s about 33” high, 24” wide, and 18” deep.

Very nice Odie. I’m guessing that this is a new set of drawers and not the old one that had a drill press on top of it.

Great job.

Odie, what a great idea and cabinet, nicely done. I also switched over to a floor drill press this past year and I think this would be an excellent addition, thanks again for the post and idea.

This project look to be a great space saver and an even better organizer. If and when I upgrade to a floor model I will have to keep this project in mind.

So I would assume you have to roll the cabinet out of the way each time you want to adjust the table height? probably not a huge deal, and the amount of storage gained is worth that little bit of effort.

Very nice Odie… I’ve got one of those cheap little metal tool cabinets under mine… so cheap that you open the lid and you can bend it with your fingers. I need to junk it and build one of these… nicely done Sir!

Hey this is one of those “that makes so much sense, why didn’t I think of it myself” type ideas. The space under my drill press table is mostly unused…a great place for a wheeled storage cabinet. Thanks Odie.

Tooldad, The height adjustment is in the back. The Incra table top you see is off to the side, putting the handle in the back. The only time I have to move the table is when the drill press has to be lower than the cabinet height. It’s only happened twice since May.

Odie- that is a great idea, I’m going to have that on the list of things to do – it most certainly is a wasted space (most of the time) that can be used better.

Thanks for sharing.
