My FIRST Pen!

Decided to turn a room in my basement into a pen making shop and here’s the first finished product! Read online about losing blanks because of blowouts, but I’m proud to say that I got this bad boy done using only the two blanks you see on the pen kit! Found some cheap Rosewood for this pen, but I’m hoping to get a little more exotic here soon!

Great job! Trust me, now you’re going to be hooked making pens and you’re going to want to turn other projects. That’s what happened to me.

Quite a nice feeling seeing the end product of those brass pieces and a little bit of wood, isn’t it?
i remember the first one that i did, i think i show it to everyone, even to the cat!

now apart for being a nice hobby, you can give a nice gift to your family or friends.

keep turning.

I agree, pen turning is addictive and with your first success out of the box… I’d say good decision for that basement room.

Make sure you post more, because the WILL be more.
And there will BE more blowouts. Most important – make sure whatever glue you use goes all the way to the very ends of the tubes. That’s where I have had most of my blowout problems.
Have fun!
