This is the first toy box I made for my grand daughter, My daughter requested the drawer idea and it has worked out very well. A little more work but worth the effort. I t is made of solid birch and the finish is minwas english chestnut stain with minwas semigloss wipe on poly. Thanks for looking and I enjoy your comments and recomendations.

Very nice toy box and being your first attempt, congrats ! Your Daughter’s idea of the drawer feature is unique and well conceived, have not seen it before but makes perfect scenes. I also like the quote on the front, nice touch!

Now THAT’s a unique toy box! Never would have guessed that the front pulled out.

Seems like an awful lot of extra wood and work though – wouldn’t a lid work better?

I imagine the reason for this is the thought of a lid closing on tiny fingers, but they DO make really good tension hinges…......... ;-)

That is a really nice piece – thanks for sharing!

Extremely neat and totally well executed.

Great Job!

The avatar for ralbuck is a toy box—it is over 6 feet long and the winch does work—- It was made on my whim
and the little boy that bought it was 30+ (Hey, he claimed it was for his son( Sort of like the electric train sets thing!

That’s a neat idea toy box! She will treasure it her whole life because “Grandpa made it”.

Super toy box! Love the sliding mechanism and the flawless finish. The handle and the quote really made it special, an heirloom piece for sure. Excellent work!
