I saw an ad for these in the back of American Bungalow magazine (worth getting just for the ads). My girlfriend had to go to a business meeting, so I said I’d make a set before she got home. She looked at me with those “another project?” eyes. Sure enough, when she got home, they were ready to stain. Chiseling the square holes took most of the time. Made of red oak, they were one of the first pieces I fumed with ammonia, ala Stickley.
