After finishing a small one room flooring project I had some of this brazilian cherry and mesquite left over, so I made this cross as a “thank you” to the guy that provided the flooring and helped me install it.
Brazilian cherry is 1/2” thick by 1 1/2” wide tongue and groove. The mesquite is end grain tiles that are 1/2” thick and 3” square.
Its glued and nailed to 3/8” plywood with hardboard glued to the back for additional support. Cross is about 56” tall by 38” wide. The mesquite sits proud about an 1/8”. No stain. Just several coats of spar poly as it hangs outside under the eave of his patio cover.
My largest cross to date, but the scale works for where it is hanging proudly now.
