This cherry mantle clock is based on a design from Wood magazine (October 2012). The original design was in maple with butterfly (bowtie) inlays. I decided in incorporate a 4” x 4” Motawi tile (tile name is carrot) instead. The style is somewhere between Shaker and Arts & Crafts. To accommodate the tile, I adjusted the clock dimensions. The clock is 12.5” w x 14.5” h x 4.5” d. The construction is stub tenons and grooves (photo 2). The back opens to access the clock movement and pendulum (photo 3 & 4). The clock was finished with Watco cherry danish oil, 3 coats of satin Arm-R-Seal and finally clear Briwax.
