I’m undecided whether this is an elf or a gnome, but he is definitely not a Santa! I was trying to give Mark Akers the last bit of my cash, and I saw a little carving similar to this, sitting on the table at his booth. I think Mark said he had been messing around with it at carving club or a show or something, so he didn’t have any roughouts or pictures or anything. But he did have a large basswood egg, so of course I bought it! I took a few pictures of his, so I wouldn’t forget why I bought it, and now, months later, I finally got started on it. This is the large, 5 inch size egg, and it was nice to carve something a little larger than what I’ve been working on. Thanks for looking!
