This is my version of Steve Ramsey’s Shut the Box game. Figured maple sides with walnut splines in the mitered corners. Oak ply was used for the top and bottom. I also did a 3/16” veneer on the lid of figured maple with a nice streak of heartwood surrounded by a walnut border. The tiles and rest are also walnut with vinyl numbers. I used some self adhesive felt to roll the dice on and finished the wood parts with several coats of gloss spray lacquer.

Nicely done. Looks elegant. It’s a fun lil game to play as well.

Nice use of the wood. The walnut frame around the lid works well here with the dark streak in the maple.

That is dynamite !! I’ve made 20 or 30 of that game but nothing to compare to your version. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Wow, I’m blushing from all the nice comments! Thanks everyone!

recycle1943 – The hinges are nothing special, just some 1”x1” solid brass ones from either HD or Lowes.
