This is my first shelf project I made for my wife to hold all our movies. It was the first time I ever made something this BIG and with this many shelves. It was also my first time using Dados. I learned a lot by reading the forums here and other avenues.

The piece was made from poplar, using De-waxed Shellac and a Mahogany Gel-Stain with a semi-gloss poly. I made a lot of mistakes on the way, but learned what to do and what not to do. Not sure if I am a fan of Gel-Stain or not. It is quite messy to deal with, and you have to be very careful to make sure you got all the stain blotches off the piece. On the other hand, it is easy to apply.

Each shelf is spaced apart to fit your standard DVD case. One shelf holds approximately 90 movies, or 720 movies for the whole unit. I have one more to make, but think I am going to change it up this time. I did make a mistake. If you look at the bottom shelf, it is not even like the others. I have no idea what I did to make it, but it still worked out I guess.

Always looking for Critical/Positive feedback. Makes me a better woodworker.

I think it looks good, and that bottom shelf looks appropriatly sized for some board games.
