I made this cutting board from some scraps of hard maple. I hardly ever make stuff for myself, but I was getting sick of cutting veges on a regular plastic cutting board and then having a hard time transferring the chopped stuff to a pan. So I made this for myself, it has a recess for a plate. I learned a few things, like double sided tape doesn’t work that well at 5°F (temp in the garage at the time), the board was supposed to be symetric along the long axis but the template slipped on the one side and I couldn’t save it and had to amputate the curved portion. The template also slipped while making the recess on the back side (see the little “whoops” in the pic). I finished it with 3 coats of general finishes salad bowl finish, and put some soft rubber feet on the bottom to keep it in place. It works well. Also in one of the pic are some spalted birch boxes I made to hold my coffee and tea.
