I make these wind chimes for friends, The platform, gonger and sail are made of oak. The chimes are made from 3/4 inch conduit and painted.

Nice chimes. How do you keep the holes in tubes from chaffing the cord over time?

Thank you snoman.

ratchet, the line I use for these is string trimmer cord. I’ve had one of these hanging in NC for about 5 years and nothings broken yet.

Cool wind chimes, like the design. They are pleasant to hear. Well done!

Nice chimes. I also love making wind chimes and want to make a set from something like 3” or 4” tubes and about 5’ or 6’ long.
One thing I always wondered …. does painting the tubes make them sound “duller” at all?

JoeinGA, painting them does not dull the sound. They sound the same painted or unpainted. Thanks for your comments on the chimes. I make a lot of them.
