I recently worked on renovating my son’s room for his 4th birthday. It was time to update things for him as he is definitely now a big boy!! Renovations consisted of a good deal of finish carpentry(crown molding, framed out window, wainscoting), some new wood floors, and a new big boy bed. But by far the coolest part of the renovation was the cityscape we built for him. It is built out of broken down pallet wood to give a nice rustic touch to his room. A lot of chiseling went into creating the windows and different accents. Let me know what you think. There is also some pictures of an old dresser that I am reinforcing/refinishing for him.

Also, by the way, it is actually modeled after a large US city. See if anyone can guess which one!

Pretty cool!

I’ve looked at Atlanta, New York, Portland, Seattle, Houston, and Dallas. I don’t think it’s any of those either…

Thanks to everyone who has commented.

Underdog – You are correct that it is none of the cities that you listed.

I’ll give it another day or so and if no one guesses it, i will make the big reveal!

Very cool Big Boy room! Did you build the bed too?
Is the city Boston?

Ding Ding Ding – we have a winner!!! It is the city of Boston!

@Wolfdaddy – Thank you for the kind words. My son absolutely loves his new room. As far as the bed, no I did not build it. Honestly, I really wish I had, but my wife had found this bed at RoomstoGo and fell in love with it. It is of pretty good quality, but I definitely think I would have been more happy with it if I had built it myself. I think it will be the last piece of furniture I ever buy pre-built.

My next plan is to build him a desk to go next to the dresser. Plans are to use oak veneered ply for the top and shelves along with hardwood oak edging and hardwood oak for the stretchers and legs. Stain/finish will match the dresser.

You realy made me to open you work and look it closely.Excellent wall decoration. Very original idea, most people draw things on wal, but you open new possibility here.

I love the idea of putting the skyline on the wall…but I hated not know what city it was, racked my brain trying to figure it out.

Darn. I thought it was Philadelphia. Had that bridge in the photo and everything…

Im guessing that by the bridge you are referring to the horizontal board 2nd in from the right. That is actually the one piece that is not finished….it’s actually going to be Fenway park when completed. With what I am planning to add, though, it would have immediately given it away.
