When my house was built 16 years ago the spare bedroom had a built in bookcase made from white melamine shelving material. When we ripped out the carpeting to put in oak hardwood flooring I decides to replace it with a wood bookcase. Plans are from Woodsmith’s Cabinets, Bookcases & Shelves that I modified to fit the situation. Used Ash and Plywood ash veneer. Case is 8’ high 3’ wide and 10” deep. As per Woodsmith’s plans I made the dentil and cove moulding. This was very fun and satisfying project and I learned a lot. Finished with Minwax Jacobean stain and Minwax wipe on satin poly I really like this stuff. I wanted to use Minwax Ebony stain but was over ruled by the Chairmen of the Board. Next project when I get back from the sunny south this spring is set up new shop than build a similar bookcase but much bigger in the master bedroom with glass sliding doors on the bottom.

Looks great and sturdy. Like the moulding and the finish. Great job!
