Lignum Vitae Bowl/ Pencil Pot

Lignum Vitae is an extremely dense wood with a specific gravity of 1.23 which means it sinks while in water rather than floating.
The timber was hard to sand due to the high oil/wax content of the wood which meant I only did minimal sanding to the bowl.

Nicely done! I don’t know, though- all those sharp little pencil points hitting it all the time… are you sure lignum vitae is durable enough? ;-)

It’s beautiful. Like the wood, shape and finish. Cool pencil pot, great turning piece!
