my brother wanted to make a special gift for his girlfriend…I routed their pets names on the table…he added a walnut color wood filler into the areas I routed and then gave it a light stain…I was pretty happy with the outcome!!

freehand..just stenciled the names on with carbon paper and went to work…

I think you are trying to cut too fast or the other reason is your blade is dull.. Try with a new blade..
