These are my first boxes. I made two of them as xmas presents for my mother and mother-in-law who both play a lot of bridge. I got 100% of my inspiration from Boxguy and used a lot of the techniques he discusses in his blog. I am happy with my boxes but they pale in comparison to Boxguy’s work.

The top and insert is Wenge, the sides are Zebrawood.

Thank you Boxguy for the inspiration and teachings.

This is very nice and stylish. The Zebrwood looks great and goes well with the Wenge.

Way better than our old shoe box. I might need to make one of these!

Great choice of wood. Box making is a ton o fun. Keep at it and know that everyone needs a box.

Jack, you didn’t just copy a design…you improved it. Beautiful selection of woods and materials. I like everything about this project. Thanks for all your compliments, but all you needed was the nudge, and you took it from there.

Next you need to make a valet, and then a jewelry box, and then a teabox, and then a laptop…well you get the idea. I am eager to see what you will build next. I really like your work. Your bed and side table are very well done too. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Nice work. Great woods.

It’s good to follow the teaching of those before you, you will eventually put “you”in your style. It’s great to look at posting and know who it is by what it looks like.
