Haven’t posted here in quite some time…
many projects later…
I am building this for a customer, the bedside (side of a bed) that has limited space, I have YET to put a finish on it, but this is it SO-FAR. Padouk, Maple.. more pics to come when in finish process

**update – applied 1st coat of 100% pure Tung Oil, 1/3 cut w/100% mineral spirits, I am loving Tung Oil…but it is the REAL stuff, not Tung Oil Finish from stores, it’s 100% pure, and believe me it makes a BIG difference…I like how it “pops” the wood…DEEP definition, with subtle sheen, and soooo easy…
done!
2 additional coats w/light varnish/spirits mix..very nice

That’s a really pretty combination. It looks like you built it to fit a narrow space. Hope they like it; I think it’s attractive.

thanks! thank you very much! yes, she only has about 14” on her side of bed, ha…the stand is 12”x8”x24”
Gonna put the finish on 2moro…contemplating pure Tung Oil…or my usual Watco then Arm-R-Seal regiment…Tung Oil is quicker though..ha

Whew that’s looking good! Love the routed edge. I use Watco a lot; probably too much. I recently compared it on Elm to Boiled Linseed Oil and was surprised to see the BLO was much more clear and brought out the colors better. It may have been the wood, but I had no idea there was such a difference among oils. Time to step out of my routine and try something new!

I usually use Watco because of the Amber tint it gives…but I think I will go pure 100% Tung Oil…I have some from Rockler, it’s nice to use…fast. Just cut it with 50% mineral oil on first coat, then subsequent coats are pure from the bottle…nice sheen too, with 3 coats..we’ll see, ha

Next, is two more coats un-cut…best thing is NO sanding needed…it’s so smooth and w/o ANY nubs, lint…NOTHING! Very nice…VERY happy!

That looks great…. and looks really tiny. Like it was doll furniture. I notice she had very narrow space by bed… curious about the height though.

I bet she loved it though. Looks great!
