These are my latest turnings. I’m still a newb, but hopefully I will continue to improve. Pictured are my first turned bowl, made out of an unknown wood, victim of a drunk driver. The bark was very thick, so the live edge did not hold up as well as I hoped, and this was pre-chuck, so I did not have a good way to hold it. The second is a mushroom I turned from that blasted orange tree that had been in our back yard. It drew blood once too many times with it’s 2” thorns, now this is all that is left. And third, Angel version 2. I tried making a ring for the halo instead of the traditional disk. We’ll see what the wife thinks. Thanks all for your input.

The mushroom looks great. You say that it was an orange tree, and it had thorns. I was thinking Osage Orange, because they have thorns. But their wood is lemon yellow.
The angle is very dainty. Nice bowl.

Yup, it was a navel. The thorns are not as big as on a lemon, but when you step on one and it goes through your sandal and into your foot, they are too big to have around kids. Don’t ask how I know that last part….ouch…
