Several years ago my wife asked me to build a drum table. No problem(I thought), I’ll just go to a furniture store & examine one, come home & make it. Shows how old fashioned we are. I think I visited every furniture outlet in the City….no drum tables. So relying on memory I went out into my little shop & floundered around for a while & this is the result. The top is veneered oak ply with solid oak edging. Ditto for the panels & doors. The color contrast was achieved by using a grain filler on everything EXCEPT the panels & top hence they absorbed more walnut stain than the rest of the table. Thanks for looking.

I don’t think this is truly a Drum table although I could be wrong totaly perghaps there are two types of drum table. The thing is it looks very well made and is beautifully designed and constructed.Try this as I always thought this was a drum table Alistair http://www.southerncourtfurniture.co.uk/store/hardwood-tables/occasional-tables/regency-drum-table/showitemOC9.aspx

Hello Alistair:
You raised my curiosity. What I built is what I recall as being a “drum table”, so after having a look at the southern court furniture Co table, I went to Google Images & it would seem that almost any approximately round table either pedestal mounted like Southern’s or full skirt like mine & anything in between can be called a drum table. I guess if it isn’t square or rectangular by golly it must be a drum table. Interesting.
