You can read all about this on my Blog
I had this big chunk of a Birch log laying in a corner of my garage for years.
I was moving things around one day, & I figured it was about time I did something with it.

I had planned on making a table, but I didn’t have room for a table, so here’s the clock.

The clock motor I had was made for a pendulum, So instead of the Brass one I carved a wooden Maple leaf just to be different.

The size is 2 1/2” X 20X 25”, & About 20 pounds.

Looks good on the fireplace (or is that a brick wall?)

Oh, ok, that pic puts the piece more in perspective as to size and weight. For some reason, the other ones made me think it was huge. Thank you Dick.

Fooled me. But then as Todd said, “What do I know, I’m just a dog.”

Dick, I really like the way that turned out. I have to imagine that it replaced the beloved “bird call clock” put aside in the last photo.
Great piece. Makes me want one.

Thanks everybody!!
It must be an optical illusion that makes the clock look smaller, because it does look smaller to me in that image also. Or else I’m that large that I overpower the clock.

I’ve been planning on enclosing that singing bird clock with a wooden frame.

I really like the maple leaf. I like the perspective in relationship to the hand. Clock, well it looks like art to me. Great job, Dick.

Good job pal, good to see your creative juices flowing. Franks right about the combination of colors birch and linseed oil. One of the best projects I did was out of a stump. A platter of white oak. mike
