A lady contacted me and asked if I could make a butcher block from Maple and Purpleheart for her hubby as a Christmas gift. Two stipulations – it had to fit in a budget and it had to be 5” tall.

Hubby is 6’ 2” and their counter top is 36” so chopping on their cutting board is killing him.

This is what i came up with. 3” thick board on 2” legs, 12” x 14”. The price should have been outside her budget but I made sure I stayed within her range, what the heck, it’s Christmas!

That’s one beefy butcher block. Like the legs and the attractive wood mix. Great job!
