I was asked by my best bro-in-law to make an urn for his sisters ashes, which I considered to be a great honor, since I have known Tina for 2/3 of my life. They are of Greek ancestry and he wanted something to look like Greek architecture and kind of drew something out – and this is what I came up with. The owl is from the top of Tina’s cane and was my sisters’ idea, as Tina was a collector of Owls. In Greek mythology, an owl represents wisdom and she was one of the wisest women I’ve met.
An honor to put my name on this piece.
It is about 10×10x6 which is kind of large, but Tina wanted some of her dogs’ ashes (2 dogs) to be included.
Walnut and White Oak, Tung Oil under several coats of gloss Poly. Probably can’t see it, but I put some Walnut splines into the miters on the base, just for a little contrast.
Thanks for looking guys!
