I managed to finish this just in time for Xmas….a gift for the wife.
All of the woods with the exception of the writing surface and the rear of the carcass(doorskin ply) were cut/dried and milled by myself. Woods are fir, cedar and maple.
I made one major boo boo on the raised panel on the front, I beveled the wrong side of the of the maple panel , this took me hours to fix as I only had about an 1/8th to work with and I had to rebuild/glue wood back in place so I could work with the other side. I also ran out of dowels at 11:30 pm, so I resorted to pencils as shown in the last pic(I thought they were OK as it is a writing desk.
The wife likes the fruitwood stain so the whole was done in that and then some watco oil was applied.
thanks for looking.
