This is an end grain cutting board that I constructed after watching the wood whisperer video on cutting boards. I love the end result. It is hard maple and walnut. I gave it to my in-laws and they were thrilled. Finished it with General Finishes salad bowl finish thinned down 50%. This is my second attempt at a cutting board. The first was much smaller and the checkers were a bit out of line. I was much happier with the results on this one.

Great job on your 2nd board. Marc is has led so many into making these…. Great work,,, One of the board masters on here taught me very early on about grain orientation. Before your 2nd glue up look at the grain and make sure they all flow the same way on both the maple and walnut. Not being negative, just trying to help like others have for me. Look fwd to seeing more.

Real Nice job… It’s not a cutting board at this point, it’s Art Work!

Really nice board! I actually like the alternating grain pattern. It’s one more piece of detail to look at without cluttering it up.
I’ve really got to get my hands on some walnut.
Well done.

Looks great. I am making the exact same board for my second board. I made a few modifications. I am using maple, walnut and cherry.

Thanks for all the replies, I am glad you pointed that out ken because I was wondering if that was a mistake to have them out of sync. Davidmack: I am interested in your design, my next was going to be a three wood and I was interested in layout options. I was also thinking cherry.

LOL! If I ever make something that beautiful, there’s no way my wife is going to cut on it! ;)
