I decided to make my boy an airplane toy for Xmas. He’s only 18 months but he already has a love for everything with a motor. An airplane was the only thing he didn’t have. It started as an 18” length of pine 4×4. Milled and cut into a Spirit of St Louis with water skis airplane.
I’ve spotted him running around with it making all the right sounds. He likes it but its a little heavy, but I hope that means it’s also heavy-duty.

It looks good, like the design and color. It’s way better than plastic ones. Great work!

Thanks, building toys and furniture for my kids is really fun and rewarding. They don’t see the imperfections, they just enjoy them and love the fact that dad made something just for them.

Very nice! I’m looking to build something similar for my son and nephews – I might be referring back to these pictures. I like the idea of the skis better than attaching wheels that I think would be more likely to break off.

Great idea! I plan on making an airplane swing, for my grandson. Hadn’t thought of making a toy one, for indoor/outdoor play, as well!
