I draw my projects up as 3D solids in AutoCAD before I build them. This allows me the luxury of doing many things such as judging proportions, printing out patterns as well as creating working drawings. I am able half the time to forego a prototype

Looks interesting. How are you able to print up patterns? Are they actual size, or do you have to get them enlarged? And can you do the same sorts of things with Sketchup?

Thanks!

Everything is drawn 1 to 1 and I can print them full size. Someday I will get a larger printer, but for now I sometimes have to print them up in sections and tape them together. I also make router template patterns this way. I am not familiar with Sketchup, I am very proficient with AutoCAD and Solid Edge
