Made these simple boxes for the nieces from their 2011 Christmas tree. I left the tree trunk in the attic of our garage to dry for a couple of years, worked pretty well. They got a kick out of it, since the oldest is a bit of a nature lover.

I used same technique as making a bandsaw box, check out Woodworking for Mere Mortals by Steve Ramsey, his Sept. 24, 2010 post ” Things to make with a log”. Its a great site, lots of good projects and he is a funny guy. Thanks.

Cool idea. I have a tree section from about 2 years ago. Was thinking about making ornaments from it but i do like this idea.

Like them, very pretty and cool. The log is gorgeous, has very nice textures and colors. Great work!
