This is a plaque I made for my girlfriend for Christmas. She is a huge “Alice in Wonderland” fan. The face is made of cherry, the teeth and inset of the words is maple, and the back is black walnut. I rounded the teeth slightly with sandpaper to give them kind of an intarsia look. I also left the saw marks in the letters because I liked the look it gave them. It is clear finished in Deft lacquer with a satin finish.

Cool artwork! Very nice. Can you share how you cut out the letters and shapes?

Wonderful build!

Jerry, my guess is that a scrollsaw was used for the cutouts.

Thanks for sharing this – it’s quite mad, you know.

Wow that’s an impressive piece of work Eric,

I might come visit you when I need my third set of teeth, have you ever considered a career in dentistry?
