bowl - segmented turning

my son asked for a bowl as a dinner table center piece to hold fruit etc. so this was another fun xmas project. wood is poplar and purpleheart. I selected poplar boards with contrasting heart/sap wood colors in the vertical grain, and the variety of colors in the finished project was something to behold. looks like several different species was used instead of just two. bowl is 11” diameter/ 6” deep.

No flies on that! I never would have thought of using different pieces of the same wood to give different colors. Thanks for sharing.
