This is my 1st attempt to freehand rout a sign. The wife says I did an awesome job. I guess so. I am my own worst critic.
This is also a sign that she had been bugging me to make. Finally done only after 6 months

Well I’m impressed! I’ve tried a sign and know that it’s not an easy task.
Will you be painting the lettering?

not bad considering it’s the 1st attempt at freehand routing of letters! I’ve tried it before and it wasn’t successful. I now use a router pantograph with different fonts that I print from the computer. If you going to do any signage whatsoever, I recommend getting one (or one of those letter template sets). Cheers.

That is had to do and you can’t erase misspelled words. Very cool.

Nice Job! Sure puts my first (and only) sign to shame!

That is a project I have my general shop students do as part of the router unit. It allows them to use a grooving bit and then they edge it with the table router. If they kids want painted letters, we have them to go wallyworld and pickup craft paints in the colors they want. Paint reasonably careful, but we run the board through the planer after paint has dried throughly, and it looks like an artist painted it. spray some clear on it and it shines. We used to use spray paint, but we lost our spray booth and the overspray would actually soak into the surface open pores and left streaks or spots. Less fumes and mess for them to use craft paint. Plus they can actually buy it, now in missouri you have to be 18 to buy spray paint.

I can’t do it. My wife won’t let me put happy birthday on the kids cakes either.

I am a shop student in tooldad’s class and this was a fun easy project. It was my first time that I have ever done anything with a router and it definatly requires a steady hand. I eventually did like ten of these because I was good at it. I iwll have pictures posted of mine soon.
