Decided that enough was enough as there were chargers hanging out of sockets all over the house. This is the end result, the Charging Station Project. The basic idea came from another LJ member who’s name escapes me but I still wish to thank him for stirring the creative juices.
The wood is local Thai called Mai Padoo which is on the order of maple as far as hardness and work-ability.
The detailed work was done with my new Ryobi scroll saw. It forced me to learn a new degree of patience as witnessed by the far too numerous broken blades.
The dowels and molding trim are hand made with a router and a lot of hand sanding.
The marble top is a piece that has been laying around for years and was a real joy to cut (not) with a hand held grinder and polished with car wax.
The electrical is an individually switched plug strip mounted on a back plate and then mounted to the base to allow it to swivel out for access.
Finish was several coats of urethane with 1000 grit buffing between coats.
All in all, a fun piece to create and has proven to be very functional.
Hope you enjoy the pics

Very nice I made one of these for my shop, it is much simpler to say the least. Your work is beautiful and so is the wood.

My wife wants me to make something like this for our house. I will NOT show her this one. I’m thinking something simple and small. Beautiful work. Thanks for the post.

Very nice lines. I especially like the flair of the les at the top and bottom. All of the proportions are so well balanced it is very eye catching.
Thanks for sharing your work.

Your LJ inspiration was probably my cord organizer, but yours is much nicer, and I’m going to steal a bunch of your ideas on my next one [grin].

Very nice. I really like the look of the dowels in the stretcher in the legs.
This is the second charging station I have seen here and after the first I thought I would like one. Now I know I need to make one becasue the wife has been complaining about the wires for all the phones.
