Interactive Waving Hand Lamp

I’m shutting down the shop for the year, but I’ll be hitting this one hard in January.

I suppose you could say that my Waving Hand Lamp is an outgrowth of the concrete goose fad that swept the nation a number of years ago. People bought the basic geese and dressed them with outrageous outfits. Multiple cottage industries sprang up to pump out accessories and patterns for goose “gowns”.

So the concept for my lamp is that it will come with multiple interchangeable hands, and any kind of shade can be used on the bulb. I’m thinking that it will be safe because of the introduction of cool-running LED’s.

My daughter wants to do a waving Audrey Hepburn lamp with a white glove, diamond ring, and string of pearls. She found the perfect hat at Lamps Plus.

Personally, I’m going with a Devo lamp for the prototype. I’ll be making the shade with some leftover plywood hoops from my OctoPlanters.

Suggestions?

I made a video to explore the possibilities … https://vimeo.com/61110256

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I’m betting that this is the first time a picture of Audrey Hepburn made it to LumberJocks. :)

When a catch on the lathe has got you down….you must whip it.

John, as long as we’re getting technical, how about one with sign language?

How about a bedside lamp for that certain someone so you don’t have to guess? :)

Another imaginative creation.
