I wanted to make a jewelry box for my wife for Christmas. The case is made of curly cherry, drawer fronts are curly soft maple, drawer box is cherry pulls are Purple Heart. I did through dovetails for the case and half blind dovetails for the drawers. I used 1/4” ply for the drawer bottoms and adhered velvet from joann fabrics to it with spray adhesive.

The finish is as follows;
1st: 2 coats of boiled linseed oil and wet sanded the 2nd coat.
2nd: padded garnet shellac
3rd: I finished with paste wax.

That is some great-looking wood. I didn’t realize cherry could darken that much with just BLO and garnet shellac… it looks really good. Your dovetails look great, too.
