A Dalek and a Tardis for my (adult) kids. The Dalek worked very well, the Tardis doesn’t really have enough definition in relief. This is our first try at 3D relief on the CNC.

The boxes are made out of hickory and cherry.

You can try doing a wash. Basically a really really watered down oil color like burnt umber and rub it with a rag on the carving. The pigment will get stuck near the edges but not so much in the open areas. Then you can rub with a bit of burlap if it is too dark in the center areas. Then recoat with your fav oil ok film finish.
